NSW shines at Expo 2020 Dubai

Expo 2020 Dubai offered a unique and enterprising opportunity for NSW companies to unlock global potential. Investment NSW recognised that and partnered with the Australian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai World Expo to showcase capabilities and deliver outcomes for NSW.

The NSW Government and Investment NSW proudly supported DFAT's Australian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai from October 20201 to March 2022.

With 192 country pavilions, Expo 2020 Dubai was set to be the world's largest trade exposition in history.

Despite lockdowns, Expo 2020 Dubai was attended by over 20 million visitors. 

Investment NSW organised a six-month Expo program across six sectors: 

  • Space
  • Technology
  • Agtech and Agrifood
  • Defence and Security
  • Health and Medtech
  • International Education. 

We had stands at Arab Health and Gulfood and hosted 3 flagship events at the Australian Pavilion focusing on:

  • Health, Medtech and the R&D Ecosystem
  • Food Integrity and Agrifood Capabilities Showcase
  • Study NSW: Education the Next Generation.

We worked with NSW agrifood companies to produce pitching videos to showcase at Expo. 

We were also covered extensively in the media. 

Proudly engaging with over 100 NSW companies and institutions, generating over AU$40 million in export sales for NSW.

Expo 2020 DubaiExternal Link  concluded after a six-month run from October 2021 to March 2022. Clocking in with more than 20 million visitors, it was the largest World Expo ever with over 190 countries participating. 

The Expo offered companies from NSW an exciting opportunity to unlock global potential. Investment NSW was major partner for the Australia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai World ExpoExternal Link , and showcased the state’s produce, people and business to the world. 

Investment NSW also delivered virtual and in-person events, including several business matching programs for the space, technology, agtech and agrifood, defence and security, health and medtech, and international education sectors.  

We delivered the following results for 105 participating businesses from NSW: 

  • more than AU$40 million in export sales so far
  • 6 sector programs
  • 2 trade exhibition stands (Arab Health and Gulfood)
  • 3 VIP Dinner Events
  • 3 virtual education showcase events.
