Agri-Food and Beverage to Indonesia

Program dates
March to September 2022
Key event
Food Hotel Indonesia, 26 to 29 July 2022
Why this market
Indonesia has a population of 270 million and a growing middle class. Food demand is predicted to increase 4 times by 2050, according to the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARES).
Despite the pandemic, grocery retail and food sales still record increase. Economic growth and rising disposable incomes create strong opportunities in high-value segments, such as convenience foods, especially in urban centres such as Jakarta and Surabaya.
Rising health-consciousness and hygiene concerns mean that food origin has become an important purchasing determinant for affluent consumers, lifting packaged food sales. Health benefits are one of the top considerations for food purchase for this group of buyers, according to Fitch Solutions. The growing demand for halal products also provides a unique opportunity for food exporters in this area.
