Why this market
- As the world’s fifth-largest economy with fast growing industrial growth, India is a major destination for NSW’s exports.
- India produces around A$40 billion worth of non-fuel minerals and 900MT coal annually. Substantial competitive changes in its mining sector, including decarbonisation and sustainability practices, is generating a growing demand for innovation, making now the ideal time for NSW METS companies to explore the opportunities in this market.
- After entering into force in December 2022, the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA) has altered import duty structures across various categories improving the viability of NSW exports to India.
