Food and Beverage to Thailand

Thaifex Anuga Asia 2024 is one of Southeast Asia’s largest food and beverage trade shows that brings together global procurement leaders, distributors, decision makers and key buyers from around the world. Investment NSW is hosting an exploratory visit to Thaifex Anuga Asia 2024, followed by an opportunity to exhibit and network at the CP Group’s Global Sourcing Expo 2024. Applications closed on Friday 3 May 2024.

Thaifex Anuga Asia 2024 is one of Southeast Asia’s largest food and beverage trade shows that brings together global procurement leaders, distributors, decision makers and key buyers from around the world.

CP Group is a Thailand based conglomerate with business lines across multiple industry sectors, including food and beverage in both retail and food service. CP Group own and operate Lotus, MAKRO, 7-11 and food service outlets across Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Investment NSW is planning to host a mission that will include an exploratory visit to Thaifex Anuga Asia 2024, followed by an opportunity to exhibit and network at the CP Group’s Global Sourcing Expo 2024.

About the event

Thaifex Anuga Asia 2024, held in Bangkok from 28 May to 1 June 2024, is one of Southeast Asia’s largest premier food and beverage events and a key platform for engagement with the region.  A trade only event attracting more than 80,000 visitors and more than 3,000 exhibitors from 45 countries, it is a showcase of international and domestic food and beverage capability.

CP Group is the largest privately held business in Thailand, with significant operations across multiple industry sectors, including food and beverage. CP Group owns Makro Hypermarkets, Lotus and 7-11 in Thailand, and CP Foods has subsidiaries in nearly 20 countries, and exports to over 40 countries.

CP Group's Global Sourcing Expo 2024 is an opportunity for selected participants to exhibit their products and network with the CP Group’s food and beverage procurement managers from Thailand and across their global network.

Investment NSW's Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is seeking expressions of interest from qualified New South Wales businesses wanting to participate in this mission that will include optional attendance at Thaifex Anuga Asia 2024 (as a non-exhibitor) and then as an exhibitor at the CP Group's Global Sourcing Expo 2024.

Why you should participate

Prior to departure on the mission, we will provide participants with business and cultural training specific to Thailand's food and beverage sector.

Attend Thaifex Anuga Asia 2024 to undertake firsthand market research, and identify current trends relevant to the market, including competitor analysis, and network with players from Thailand’s food and beverage industry. This is an optional part of the mission for those that want to maximise their time in market.

Attend CP Group's Global Sourcing Expo 2024 to get access to procurement managers and decision makers from across the CP Group’s significant food and beverage portfolio that includes convenience stores, supermarkets, hypermarkets and food service outlets. This will be in a trade show format, where you are expected to attend in person and to exhibit/promote your products on a shared NSW stand at the event.

In addition to the above core activities, we are planning to arrange a guided retail tour and bespoke business matching activities where appropriate.

We welcome NSW companies in the following food categories to apply:

  • seafood
  • dairy (everyday and specialty cheeses and cheese slices, whipping cream, yoghurt, butter and cream)
  • fruit and vegetables (selected items only)
  • ambient goods and dry goods
  • ready meals (frozen or ambient)
  • bakery items
  • beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic/functional)
  • confectionery (including biscuits, lollies and sweets)
  • chips and crisps (potato, rice or any other varieties).

Why you should participate:

  • identify and engage with new partners/customers in market
  • increase your brand awareness in Thailand and the ASEAN region
  • attend one of the largest trade shows in Asia
  • promote your brand directly to buyers from one of the largest food and beverage players in Thailand
  • access in-market support from Investment NSW ASEAN team.

Eligibility

  • Thai FDA registration required (TBC)
  • the product or service must be produced primarily in NSW
  • have a valid ABN registered for NSW
  • export-ready, able to organise samples to Thailand that can be displayed at the trade show
  • provide marketing content and support to Investment NSW's ASEAN team to promote this event
  • have your own staff or representative on site for the trade show.

What's included?

Investment NSW will support the trade exhibition costs at CP Group's Global Sourcing Expo 2024, which includes:

  • a dedicated pod on the Investment NSW stand at the expo
  • attendance to CP Group's Networking Cocktail Event.

What's not included?

Investment NSW will not pay for:

  • miscellaneous add-ons for the exhibition – including pods, fridges etc.
  • freight – shipment and storing of product samples
  • visas
  • airfares
  • accommodation
  • travel insurance
  • meals outside the program events and functions not hosted and/or co-supported by Investment NSW
  • ground transport such as taxis and public transport.

Places are strictly limited, and the application process is competitive. Successful applicants will be determined by a panel assessing eligibility and product suitability.
